HAPORI RESIDENCY
What if the life you’ve been imagining actually exists?

What if you could press pause without putting your life on hold?
Imagine waking to birds instead of alarms. Drinking your morning coffee under a palapa. Spending your days creating, working remotely, tending a garden, exploring San Miguel, or simply having the space to think.
For one to three months, Hapori becomes your home. Not a retreat. Not a vacation rental. A place to settle into a different rhythm and experience what everyday life can feel like when there’s more space, more nature, and a small community around you.
Some people come because they’re navigating a life transition. Others want to experience intentional community before making a bigger move. Many simply feel a quiet pull toward something different, even if they can’t quite explain why.
Sometimes changing your surroundings is enough to change your perspective.
A Different Way to Live
Life at Hapori has a different rhythm.
There are no itineraries to follow or activities you feel obligated to attend. Instead, everyone settles into their own routine while naturally crossing paths throughout the day.
You might spend the morning working remotely from your patio, wandering the labyrinth with a cup of coffee, tending the garden, or driving into San Miguel for lunch with friends. Some afternoons are productive. Others are reflective. Both feel equally at home here.
Meals are sometimes shared. Conversations happen naturally. Solitude is always respected.
This isn’t about escaping real life.
It’s about discovering a version of everyday life that feels more intentional, more connected, and more alive.
CREATIVE, SPIRITUAL, SUSTAINABLE
Life at Hapori naturally weaves together three threads, and you’re free to explore whichever ones resonate with you.
Creatively, you’re just minutes from San Miguel de Allende, one of the world’s great creative communities. Spend your days exploring galleries, taking workshops, writing, painting, building something with your hands, or finally making time for the project that’s been waiting for you.
Spiritually, there’s space here to slow down and reconnect. Walk the labyrinth at sunrise, experience a traditional temazcal, join a sound bath or drum circle, or simply enjoy the quiet. Nothing is expected. Everything is optional.
Sustainably, Hapori offers a glimpse of what’s possible. Solar power, rainwater collection, gardens, and off grid systems are simply part of everyday life. If you’re curious, there are people here who love sharing what they’ve learned. If you’re not, you can simply enjoy living in a community designed to tread a little more lightly on the earth.
You don’t have to embrace every part of this lifestyle.
Sometimes simply living around it is enough to see new possibilities.
Learn Or Simply Live
One of the unique things about Hapori is that you’re surrounded by people who have spent years exploring intentional community, permaculture, off grid living, and a more conscious way of life.
If you’re curious, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to ask questions, share ideas, and learn from their experience.
If you’re not, that’s perfectly okay too.
There are no classes to attend, expectations to meet, or philosophies you need to adopt. You can simply enjoy the beauty, the slower pace, and the community around you.
Whether you’re looking for recommendations on the best restaurants, art galleries, Spanish lessons, Pilates, hiking trails, or deeper spiritual experiences, we’re happy to point you in the right direction.
You create your own experience. We’re simply here to help you make the most of it.
The Best of Both Worlds
One of Hapori’s greatest gifts is its location.
Just fifteen minutes away is San Miguel de Allende, one of the world’s most celebrated small cities. Spend the afternoon exploring galleries, browsing local markets, taking a class, enjoying exceptional restaurants, or meeting friends for coffee.
Then come home.
Home is open skies, birdsong, walking the labyrinth at sunrise, watching spectacular sunsets, and ending the day around a fire under the stars.
You don’t have to choose between culture and nature, connection and solitude, inspiration and rest.
At Hapori, you can move effortlessly between the vibrant energy of San Miguel and the quiet rhythm of life on the land.
That’s what makes this lifestyle so special.

Many work remotely. Some are artists, entrepreneurs, writers, or retirees. Others arrive with no agenda at all beyond slowing down and seeing what unfolds.
You don’t need experience with intentional communities, permaculture, or spiritual practices. You don’t need to share anyone else’s beliefs or lifestyle.

A Final Thought
We created Hapori because we believe there’s a different way to live.
A life with more connection, more creativity, more time in nature, and more space to reflect on what matters most.
Hapori isn’t finished. Like any meaningful community, it’s continually evolving. That’s part of its charm. Every resident leaves their own imprint and becomes part of its story.
If this way of living speaks to you, we’d love to get to know you.
Hi, we’re Ann and Scott.
Several years ago, we left behind a busy life to build something we’d always dreamed about: a place where people could experience a slower pace, meaningful community, and the beauty of everyday life in Mexico.
We’d love to hear your story and explore whether Hapori is the right fit for this season of your life.
